Yesterday I saw a post on my local city animal welfare Facebook page advising us to check for bunny nests before we start mowing. Bunny nests look like dead grass piles (see above) yet are the perfect home for their babies!

We have LOTS of cottontails in Oklahoma yet I’ve never come across a bunny nest while we’ve lived here. I hope to find one some day!
Now that spring is upon us, it’s a good reminder to check for bunnies before you mow!

DCG . . . That is the most interesting and beneficial film clip I have seen in quite some time. I did not know what a rabbit hole looked like, and would have just assumed that this was “dead grass.” Thank you for the information.

We have a rule in this house….do not mess with the bunnies:). Last year while husband was mowing a tiny baby rabbit ran from the flower bed and landed in our small inground waterfall birdbath and couldn’t get out. Husband got it out, dried it off, placed it back and it sat stunned. Then afterward it was fine and went on it’s way. One of many animal stories in this place.
