Elephants run to greet man who’d been away for 14 months

Darrick Thomson, a staffer at Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand, had been away for a year and two months.

But his absence had only made the elephants’ hearts grow fonder.

When Thomson returned, he called out to a herd of elephants.

Watch the overjoyed elephants run in the water to greet him.

If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.

Elephant Nature Park was founded by a woman named Lek Chailert, on the premise that elephant tourism can be accomplished in a safe and healthy environment for the animals. Chailert has devoted her life to rescuing elephants and educating the world on the horrors that they face in the tourism and logging industries.

Darrick Thomson, a Canadian, is Chailert’s husband. (Chiang Rai Times)

That was just wonderful. To see how the elephants responded to the sound of his voice, and they rushed towards him. What a great piece of animal photography. Thank you so much for bringing it to us.
