Oakland, California is a democrate-run city that is failing. From The Daily Mail:
“Police data shows the city now has the second worst 911 response time in California, while the number of homicides has jumped by 79 per cent from 2018 to 2022. In the year to date, violent crime is 22 per cent higher than last year, motor vehicle theft is 51 per cent higher and robbery is 36 per cent higher.”
Seneca Scott ran for mayor of Oakland last year and lost. He had called for ‘shifting budgets away from the police’ and a ‘complete overhaul of how we want our communities to interact with law enforcement.’
After a recent incident, he’s had a change of heart. From The Daily Mail:
Black activist ditches his progressive beliefs after being arrested for defending himself against homeless knifeman in his Oakland garden
Details of the incident:
“At around 10pm on October 30 2021, Scott discovered two men were trying to steal the water heater from his garden. He went down to confront them, taking his gun for protection, and found they had set up a tent and laid out drugs on his picnic table.
He told them to put down the water heater and one of them pulled a knife. Scott showed them his pistol and again told them to put down the water heater.
At this point one of the men fled, but the other flagged down a police car and told them Scott had pulled a gun on him. Police arrested Scott on charges of brandishing a weapon and carrying a concealed firearm.
The charges have all since been dropped.“
Seneca says now he is vehemently anti what he terms the ‘woke left’ and ‘phony “progressives”‘ who he says are ‘dismissive towards black and brown people’. (I would argue that they are dismissive towards law and order.)
Scott told The Free Press that he changed his views when he realized ‘how deep the damage was’ and how ‘the people we had put in place were just complete frauds’.

Better late than never to realize what disasterous democrat policies are doing to his city. Now we just need about another 250,000 Oakland residents to wake up and change their voting habits.

The real question is why did it take this dimwit a confrontation with a knife-wielding junkie to solve the equation: fewer cops on the streets + more left-wing George Soros funded-judges = greater crime?
Spot On Grif and has been going for a while cuz we are seeing the results of about 20 yrs of this going on so the problem is it’s wide spread to the point they can’t hide it any more so its like full steam head we can’t stop now or they will rise up soon so we got to act now same reason the whole world is about to come under attack and its all going to happen all at once every where. looks kinda bleak for us here we have three sides to fight at once.
“Have some extra supplies and some way to protect your self what happened in Israeli can happen here.”
You are not the only one who thinks this way, Brian. Thankfully we live in a rural area in Tornado Alley so are more likely to experience a natural disaster. The likelihood of any terrorist attack/social uprise is slim yet always good to be prepared, for sure. We have food, water, pet food, and are ALWAYS lock & loaded.
Another thing, if you attend any large events, make sure your situational awareness is on high alert.
Good idea is to be prepared and safe, as you said.
The sad thing is when something does happen so many can die so quickly like a 911. And so many have no idea they are clue less and a lot of people just don’t want to talk about it and stick their heads in the sand. This is the Marine coming out of me guess, hope I am not freaking people out.
Grif…Plato said a couple of thousand years ago that “What is honored in a country will be developed there.” (one of my fav quotes from even way back in my college days) Doh….your “formula” is spot on to illustrate this LITERALLY age-old. What you pay for, what you vote for…etc…is what you GET.
No crowded venues for me. No shopping centers or big box stores, no movie theaters, no remote “public” use spaces. A good amount of food stored, including survival rations and survival seeds, cash hoard (metals, not paper), alternative energy source, cars always topped off at ‘FULL” in the gas tank, electronics always fully charge. Locked and loaded in that department. In SoCal it’s not always people that can threaten you, but wildfire and earthquake….and we even had a tornado that damaged our home once. AS far as being “locked and loaded,” we know that we live in a place in SoCal that will be defended LAST for fire or earthquake damage, and have to survive on our own maybe for days or weeks or months. It’s not ‘gonna be “just” criminals come after what you have, if you have food and resources, but maybe even others in your community.
You are so correct when people have small children they have to feed them. When push comes to shove you have to get food.
And people will do desperate things during desperate times.
I live on a dead end street out side in a rural area. I have seen a lot of things coming so for the last 4 yrs my wife and I have been growing a larger garden. Taking and canning everything we get out of it.
We have 12 family’s that live on this street. God put it on our hearts to do this so we could feed the rest of our neighborhood. I know if a lock down comes not any of these family’s have a garden. And I doubt they have any sizeable stock pile in their homes.
We have been able to put up enough to last our street about a yr and a half. But if people can’t get what they need they will come for it if the thing you have it. And another reason I did it if I can suppy my neighbors with food and water we have a well.
Then I do not have to worry about them, only the ones who come from somewhere else.
Spot on. This is good for your neighbors (we’ve coordinated with ours so that one of us is in charge of cash…one in charge of water…one in charge of basic triage medical needs, etc…) but there is a larger “neighborhood” that is going to see this and want to take without giving. Human nature.

LOL all the way Anonymous! I have a clock that issues specific bird calls for specific hours of the day. I’d come home from work each day & the bird calls would be continually “off sync” w/birds of the hour. For instance, the Baltimore Oriel of 6 o’clock would be calling out at 12 o’clock (the time for the Robin). ON & On. Had to keep re-setting the hours/ legitimate bird calls. Thought there was something wrong w/the clock or ME. FINALLY, I came home from work one day to find my cat on the buffet…able to reach the clock…. pressing on the clock hard enough to make the “reset” button in the back hit the wall. This way, he could listen to continuous bird calls all day long 🙂
Clever of him. 🙂
