Forwarding this to my dept. chair whose daughter is accepted to a Tennessee college….and he and his family (West-coasters all) are ready to retire and follow her due to recent national events…..he’s been asking me about “how are things back there?” (husband & I are both fr mid-Atlantic). First thing we “caution” them about is…..the gentile manners attached to every human communication….SO DIFFERENT THAN HERE in the West….and the way you might be invited to come to dinner just over an every day event. My husband & I used to take a yearly trip “back East” w/children to visit relatives. It took us WEEKS to work our way through Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, even alternative routes through Kentucky, West Virginia, into MD & VA or PA, our intended targets…b/c… We were constantly invited to visit for lunch or whatever by the locals…until I asked my husband to NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT with anyone…….or we’d never make it “home” to our relatives….. I have many heart-warming stories to illustrate this…..
This is hilarious! I love this!
That is just wonderful!
