Dear Kansas, We borrowed your tornadoes, but promise to return them ASAP

Wedge tornado hits Fort Pierce, FL

First, thank you for your prayers.

Second, now that we are back from North Carolina,  we had another hurricane to face in Florida.

In the days leading up to the arrival of “Milton,” we were in heavy downpours. Someone wanted to know what it was like, so I answered, “Think of Vietnam in rainy season.” This made it much harder to put the armor onto the house.

We finished putting shutters up, and within an hour the tornado warnings began. They went on for hours, one after another, and when I checked the links it was alarming to see how many came close to our house. Then I saw some videos and was surprised to see these were not the usual Florida tornadoes, aka glorified waterspouts. No, these were long track tornadoes, some of them wedge shaped.

There were surprisingly few casualties, thank God. But some people lost their lives. Some we need prayers for those who lost someone.

So glad to hear you are OK. So sorry for those who are not. Thoughts and prayers. On my coast it’s fires and earthquakes, sometimes mudslides. On the East coast and Gulf, it’s tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and even severe tropical storms if not any of that…we all know about the tornadoes and floods of the midwest…..the hundreds of inches snows and freezes of the intermountain West. Can anyone hazard a guess about WHERE a “safe place” to live might be? We’re trying to pick a retirement state, preferably low tax or no tax. Right now, West Virginia looks pretty good in certain locations. Certain locations in Tennessee. Any other ideas?

Thank you CalGirl. I certainly don’t know where the safer places are, but places that are not so corrupt seem like a good start, including West Virginia. And it’s best to have bodyguards, the invisible kind spoken of in Psalm 91.
