Adrián Simancas was kayaking with his father, Dell Simancas, in Bahía El Águila last Saturday near the San Isidro Lighthouse in the Strait of Magellan, off Chilean Patagonia.
A humpback whale surfaced near Adrián and swallowed him and his kayak for a few seconds before spitting him out, unharmed.
“I thought I was dead,” Adrián told the Associated Press. “I thought it had eaten me, that it had swallowed me.”

Amazing story he lives to tell!
Shades of Jonah
That really is an amazing story. So glad the whale spit him out.
Just WOW!
I read that this has happened a number of times, with the human surviving. Amazing. PS: If you’re kayaking in the Strait of Magellan, with the wild ocean, the whales might be just one of many dangers.
