Auntie Lulu of FOTM, aka Grace Storvika on Body and Soul, fell and “shattered” two bones near her wrist, and was in the hospital until two days ago.
She writes:
“I would greatly appreciate everyone’s prayers for a swift and complete recovery.”
I know how awful her injury is because last October, I made the stupid mistake of reaching for the ceiling while standing on a stool. I fell and sprained my left wrist. To this day, eight months later, that wrist is still not completely healed, although most of the functions are restored.
I can only imagine how broken wrist bones would be worse — much, much worse.
So, please join me in saying a prayer for Auntie Lulu — that her broken bones heal quickly, and that she will regain full use of that wrist, hand, and arm.
Thank you.

my most profound thanks to all who have prayed on my behalf.
Dear Lord, I pray for a painless & full recovery for Gracie – and for Dr. Eowyn, as well! 🙏🏻
I know when I flipped over my bike at the end of last summer, I got lucky by landing on my shoulders & elbows, with minimal long-term damage (though I feel as if my elbow will be torn apart if I bend it a certain way long enough).
It has to be much worse being very limited in what someone can do without the use of their hands.
Thank you, JP.
It’s early morning over here in NYC on July 2nd, and I just read this now. Three years ago, I fell off my stoop and cracked three ribs. (I’m over it). So I know what pain can be.
Prayers going out for Auntie Lulu (and everyone at Body & Soul), and everyone be careful of any painkillers you take.
And Thank You, Auntie Lulu, for helping me out in my hours (plural) of need. Rest up and Godspeed! Get Well Soon!
Steven . . . So very, very happy to hear from you. I do hope that life is going well for you. Best Wishes, Auntie Lulu
A bit better. I paid off the car, still fixing it, still working and I’m in good health. Turned 65 on Feb. 9th. Good to hear from you!
I will pray for Gracie today and ask for her healing by Our Lord Jesus. I will ask the Blessed Mother Mary to take care of her.
Prayers your way Aunti Lulu! Hope your bones heal well.
Gracie-my heart and prayers go out to you. I’m well aware of broken bones-I rode dirt bikes for a lot of years during high school and after, until I came to realize that every time I went riding I came home with something broken;a rib or two,a finger or two,or three,a few toes, the vertibrae weren’t broke but they hurt to this day,a destroyed left shoulder and the occasional concussion. All part of “having fun”. When I heard your wrist bones were broke my heart dropped-those are the MOST troublesome because they feel like they take forever to heal, and they nearly incapacitate you throughout the healing process,if you want them to heal correctly. I hope you’re well set with health insurance-I never could afford Hospital care,I just toughed it out until if felt good enough to go back to living. Anyway, more than enough about me. I know the pain, the hassle of inability to do things,I hope, and make myself believe, you have friends and family around to help you as needed. Trust me-you WILL heal-not NEARLY fast enough to be satisfactory, but the day comes when you realize you can pick up that coffee cup and NOT pee yourself. (Sorry for the vulgarity-there’s no polite way to convey the needed mental image.) Anyway, heal strong, heal fast, and learn something from the injury.
Love,TJ
Mrs GRIZZ says sometimes…..I can be a pain in the ass!
I dont think its the same pain you are going thru.
Hope you can enjoy our country’s birthday with fervor my friend.
Best wishes and prayers for healing.
Oh No! Many & continuing prayers for a good healing of those delicate bones. So sorry to hear this. I have observed this up close: a neighbor’s dog, running full speed away from his owner, ran over my mom & her little dog (on her leash) on the sidewalk….sending mom down, breaking both wrists. It was a mess, as my dad was laid up from a recent hospitalization for phlebitis (not allowed to walk) & there she was without hand mobility, & I had a weeks-old infant. But we made it through all this. I’d pack up the babies & go over to their home in the morning, set out/take care of whatever medicines or what they needed for care, feed them breakfast, pack a lunch for each & put the crock pot on for supper. Then, go home & take care of the new baby stuff & the 4-yr old. We took lots of pictures b/c, before the month was out, my 4-yr-old ended up with a broken wrist from a playground accident……..and there’s more—-my grandmother dragged out photos of my dad at the same age, standing beside HIS grandmother, both holding up casts for THEIR broken wrists. I guess it was some sort of Karma. Be easy on yourself Auntie Lulu, and don’t rush getting that wrist active again until it’s good and ready. I hope you have someone to make your meals? Order in if you must or can!
I was blessed to have a niece be able to come stay with me. Thanks for your encouraging words.
I keep a list in the little notebook I carry around. I call it my St Raphael’s list. It has all the people I know with health problems. It’s a long list! Most days I pray for “everyone on the list” and ask St Raphael to also, but sometimes I read it too. I’ll add her.
Thank you, Reuben. What a great idea: a St. Raphael’s list!
