I am a descendant of one of the PA founders of “Decoration Day”….there are many origins of this, which became Memorial Day…but I have this connection to a Pa founder, honored just after the battle of Gettysburg, and her bronze statue is near her grave in Boalsburg, PA….and my (associated Meyer) descendants and antecedents from her her buried in a straight line from start to finish in the Boalsburg Cemetery, Centre County, PA.There are so many “sites” recognized as the origination of Memorial Day….but this was one of the first, happening in the early fall following the Battle of Gettysburg, PA, in 1863.
