Remember

Today we remember the D-Day Landings: June 6, 1944, when Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. It was beginning of Hitler’s downfall and the end of the Nazi Third Reich. Remember the thousands who fought  and lived to march in a victors parade. And remember the thousands who remain today in graves on the beaches where thy gave the last measure of service and sacrifice.

Truly, those who fought in WWII, to liberate the world from the Nazis, and those who fought the Campaign in the Pacific against Imperial Japan were the Greatest Generation! I salute those who gave their all.

Although, they allowed us to stand on their shoulders, I fear that their children, the Baby Boomers and subsequent generations have failed to retain, in so many instances, what they fought so hard to provide for us.

Thank you Grif for this important post. In 2007, I had the honor of being at the French cemetery/Normandy Beach, where many soldiers who fought on D Day were buried. May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
