Look at Barron Trump!

The son of two tall parents, it should come as no surprise that President Trump’s youngest, Barron, is tall.

Still only 15 years old, which means there is still growing to do, Barron, at 6′ 7″, now towers over his 5′ 11″ mom, Melania, and is 4″ taller than his 6′ 3″ dad.

Below is a pic of mom and son, seen leaving the Trump Tower in NYC, on July 8, 2021.

New York Post notes that Barron “appeared to show impeccable manners . . . carrying his mother’s [Louis Vuitton] bag for her.”

Florida deputy saves 3-year-old boy hiding under blanket from house fire

Deputy First Class Marcus Dawson to the rescue!

Excerpts from the Fox News story:

“A Florida deputy ran into a burning home on Sunday and rescued a 3-year-old boy who was hiding from the fire and smoke underneath a blanket, authorities said.

K-9 Deputy First Class Marcus Dawson responded to the home in the west section of Palm Coast after a neighbor reported that a fire appeared to have broken out in the kitchen, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said. The neighbor told Dawson that he hadn’t seen the three people who lived there that day.

Dawson checked the home from the outside and saw that a fire on the stove was spreading to the kitchen cabinets, the sheriff’s office said. Dawson yelled commands into the home but didn’t get a response. He saw dogs barking at the rear screen door as black smoke filled the home.

Dawson saw a bathroom light on at the front of the home and called out again, but received no response. The deputy then returned to the back of the house and entered through the unlocked screened patio and saw movement inside.
“Without DFC Dawson immediately running toward danger, even without a safety respirator, this could have been a much different outcome,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This child was hiding in fear of the fire and smoke watching a cartoon on his phone when, thankfully, DFC Dawson’s training in emergency response allowed him to find this child and safely rescue him.”

Apparently the father left the young boy alone with an older sibliing while he went to get dinner. Ugh.

Since you can’t see Deputy Dawson in the video, here’s a picture of him and his regular K-9 partner, Baro.

Meet Xavier, Singapore’s robot that monitors “bad behaviors”

On September 5, Singapore launched a autonomous robot designed to help weed out “bad public behavior.”

It was designed to patrol the neighbourhood in Toa Payoh Central as part of a three-week trial. Here’s what the robot looks like:

The Straits Times reported that “Xavier is an autonomous robot designed to weed out “undesirable social behaviours” that have been identified by public agencies.”

Instances in which Xavier may try and stop one’s bad behavior:

  • Smokers in a non-smoking area
  • Motorcycle riders on footpaths
  • Gatherings that exceed current limits on group sizes

Xavier will be able to alert public officers in real time to offenses. The public agencies say that Xavier will “help to improve operational efficiency and reduce manpower needs for foot patrols.”

Read about all of Xavier’s technology and the intended uses of this robot here.

I guess it is inevitable that technology would be used to monitor people. I’d much prefer to see robots do this:

Did you see the International Space Station last night?

Last night the International Space Station (ISS) was visible to the naked eye in certain parts of the US. Here in Texoma we got a glimpse of it around 8:25 PM CT. It looked like a fast-moving bright light across the sky and it traveled much faster than a commercial jet.

The ISS circles Earth every 90 minutes. It travels at about 17,500 miles per hour, which gives the crew 16 sunrises and sunsets every day! Learn more about the ISS, its crew and research activities here.

If you missed seeing it last night, you’ll may still have a chance to see it over the next couple days, depending upon where you live.  Here in Texoma we’ll be able to view it again on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

To see if the ISS will be traveling through your state, check out the Live Space Station Tracking Map here.

Getting ready to carve a pumpkin? Save the seeds!

Halloween is coming up soon which means many will be carving Jack-O-Lanterns.  Save the guts from your creation as pumpkin seeds are very nutritious and tasty!

Pumpkin seeds are rich in proteins and unsaturated fats like omega-6 fatty acids. They also contain other essential vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, folate, iron, vitamin B2, and beta-carotene.

Toasting pumpkin seeds is very, very easy and there are so many ways to spice ’em up. Wash the seeds, dry them, coat in oil or butter, add spice and bake. It’s that easy!

Here’s some helpful videos to inspire you to put those seeds to good use in your diet:

What a military preschool is teaching little kids

The racist Critical Race Theory (CRT) is deployed even in preschools.

The AJSteel Show posted this pic on Twitter, with this comment:

I am angry beyond words. My 3 year old grandson whose dad is a high ranking military officer, just started pre school at a military sponsored program. Click to see the racist chart they made on day one. Parents, please wake up and act before our kids & nation are ruined for good!

AJ Steel writes: “My son in law and my daughter pulled him out of that school and wrote a letter to the principal as well as to the base commander.”

The good ones make it look easy: Intricate skills required to land a fighter jet on a carrier

My father served aboard the USS Enterprise for some time while he was in the US Navy. He worked in the ATC tower on that carrier and later went on to become a private pilot himself. While growing up, we took many flights in his Cessna four seater. He even let me skip school one day to take a day flight!

Although I despise flying commercially today, I fondly remember the flights with my dad as a teenager. And I wonder what it would be like to fly a figher jet and try to land/take off from a carrier. Here’s what it takes:

Amazing skill set these pilots have. And amazing technology.

What a ride that would be!
