The (UK) Telegraph reports,

Dozens of masked thieves used bear spray to take down security guards before stealing around $100,000 (£78,800) worth of goods from a department store in California.

A gang of between 30 and 50 people descended on Nordstrom, a high-end clothing store, at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Woodland Hills, near Los Angeles.

They used bear spray to incapacitate security guards before they made off with handbags and designer clothing, according to the Los Angeles Police Department….

Footage of the incident circulating on social media shows intruders wearing hoods and masks darting between aisles while staff look on.

It follows a spate of similar raids in Los Angeles and other major US cities.

Republican politicians have blamed soft-on-crime policies in Democrat-controlled areas for a rise in crime….

The same Nordstrom store was hit two years ago by a group of five masked robbers who pepper-sprayed a member of staff and made off with about $25,000 worth of goods….

Just days earlier, another flash-mob style robbery took place at a Yves Saint Laurent store in Glendale, just north of Los Angeles.

The thieves stole around $300,000 worth of goods, according to the local NBC News network.

Starbucks has already closed six of its branches in Los Angeles amid safety fears. They include two spots near Hollywood Boulevard and another near Santa Monica Boulevard.

The coffee shop chain said issues with chronic homelessness, vandalism and theft were driving factors for the closures….

Karen Bass, the Democrat mayor of Los Angeles, called the robbery “absolutely unacceptable” and vowed the perpetrators would be “held accountable”…. [Blah, blah, blah]

At what point will Nordstrom close this store? These kinds of monetary losses cannot easily be made up. Shoppers who want higher end goods will begin to feel leery of going into a store that may be an intended target of a flash mob robbery. To actually view this makes any sane person sick at heart. Frankly, there is no doubt that the blame can definitely be laid at the feet of the do-nothing Democrat city governments, and the Soro’s backed Attorney Generals of these cities.

Bass lies. Most of those arrested are immediately released due to their no cash bail policy. You reap what you vote for.

Just waiting for them to run into some CCL carry person and that spray ain’t gonna help none. It’s gotten so crazy here that Memphis is forcing business to shut down at midnight.

More folks are getting shot in the process of car jacking’s than we have ever had. I think we are the king of car jack.
Had a mass shooting just the other night 8 folks got hurt.
Don’t know how no one got dead in the process of it all.

So glad I moved 40 miles outside of Memphis just to have peace of mind when I go to sleep. Got rid of the monitored security systems instead of paying for that I feed my new system. It’s a fail safe system if you get with in 30 to 40 feet of my house 4 sirens fire up and don’t stop till someone checks it out.
No ADT for us just Pit Lab and chow trained and a lot cheaper than a monthly subscription 50lbs dog food every 4 weeks.

Things I don’t do anymore thanks to the Biden admin policies & the culture of soft on crime and criminals/criminal acts:

shop in person for anything I can order through Amazon or other online stores; window shop; go out to dinner after dark; park for any reason in a large parking lot, day or night; answer any of my phones (house line or cell) unless caller ID identifies the caller; walk for exercise, even in early evening or morning, in my own neighborhood; talk to or exchange pleasantries with a stranger; send money or gift cards in the mail to friends and family for special occasions; use my debit card/bank card in commercial places; pay bills by computer/online; allow a front door, car door, or property gate fence unlocked for a minute; vacation out of the country; travel to any large cities or metro areas, use public transportation (including airlines since COVID); join any associations unless vetted and pro-American, ditto our charitable donations; pay taxes via mail or other–(use a lawyer); speak about our political beliefs to anyone.
