TY so much for this. One of my fellow teachers bought a donkey to save it from a family that had abused others, including unto death….Her new donkey (unknown to my friend) was expecting and gave her pretty directly a gorgeous little one, from the very beginning, much beloved of the family. She still has both today. Donkeys are generally way healthier to keep than horses, for instance, and can have a 40-year life span. One of those other donkey stories that I often remember is that our school often runs a Fall Festival. Once we had a “petting zoo” which contained a lovingly passive little donkey to pet and “love on.” The young woman who brought him to the event described that she’d driven from SoCal to Colorado to save him from a slaughter auction. Sometimes the power of ONE person’s decision and efforts can change the outcome of life for others, let alone their own.
