The dogs & cat edition!

In February 2020, in Istanbul, Turkey, musicians of the CRR Symphony were ready to begin their performance when a stray cat casually wandered in.

The conductor turned to the audience and jokingly asked: “Is anyone allergic to cats?” At that, as if in response, the cat leapt onto the conductor’s podium, prompting laughter from everyone in the hall.

Animals are smart!

Our companion animals are really smart.

Watch these dogs and cats open doors — to the bathroom, of a car, and especially refrigerator doors. One cat even “turns on” a faucet for drinking water. 😀

Sheriff’s Deputy & Firemen save Kookie!

Last Thursday in Pierce County (WA), the Sheriff and local Fire Department responded to a house fire and were able to get an elderly man out. The man was very distraught because his “Kookie” was still inside the burning home.

From the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Facebook post:

Yesterday, our deputies responded to a fire at a residence at 144th St S and Pacific Ave S near our Parkland-Spanaway precinct. When Deputy Dech arrived, witnesses told her that a man was trying to go back inside the residence to save his dog, “Kookie.”

Deputy Dech saw the flames coming from the residence and knew it was far too dangerous for the man to go back inside. As Deputy Dech rushed over to the door, a burst of flames came from the house. She helped the man get to safety and consoled him, as he was deeply concerned about his dog. Deputy Dech stayed with the man and comforted him as Central Pierce fire fighter went into the residence to search for the dog. Thankfully, fire fighters found the dog and rescued him from the flames. Kookie was given oxygen and is expected to be just fine.
Deputy Dech showed the courage our deputies have to put themselves in danger to help others. She also showed compassion by comforting the resident during what must have been the longest minutes of his life.”

There’s a video of the man being escorted out of his burning home by the Deputy, and he’s none to happy he can’t be let back inside to rescue Kookie. Watch the video here (some swearing in the video). Here’s Kookie after the incident (photo from Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Facebook):
