Thank You DCG….we are presently dogless, having lost the last of our 3 Labs/ Lab Mixes. We are waiting for God to knock on our door (that’s how we got the others—all rescues). Meanwhile, I watch all dog-related messages, just in case I get a clue or message or at least an inspiration. I’d been wondering about the Tibetan Mastiffs (we like the larger dogs), but this post makes me re-evaluate, even tho’ I know they are so sweet 🙂 Thanks 🙂 We must evaluate for where we are in our lives presently, with our anticipated abilities, the lifespan of the dog (and US!) and etc….One of the most sad ends to my mother’s life was that she became disabled/died before her beloved dog. An added stressor leading up to her death was that she was separated from her dog, who, subsequently, needed to be rehomed. This is an issue that needs to be addressed more openly than it is at present in most families. My mother refused to address it.I will forever be sad that she did not, and that we did not demand it of her.

PS…don’t think that I wouldn’t have taken my mom’s dog. We lived a continent apart, and I told her in her lifetime that I’d take her little dog as my own if needed….but enter a devastating hurricane, while my mother was in a medical- invalid hurricane shelter for months, her home destroyed, her dog provided for/saved by a neighbor…who found a good home for her during the recovery……very long and sad story……

Thank you DCG for this very cute post! I love the one with the mommy dog (labrador) feeding her pups and her bringing them a little toy.
