How cute are these Halloween lunches?

The Mirror reports that a mum in Ireland has been quite busy preparing some unique Bento Box Halloween lunches for her kids. Check them out:

Excerpts from the Mirror article:

“The mum-of-three spends half an hour each day putting together the packed lunches in bento boxes .

Vampire strawberries, cucumber skulls and bat-shaped sarnies are just some of the offerings the 34-year-old full-time mum has whipped up this month – even baking home-made pizza mummies before they head to school.

Every lovingly-prepared lunch is served alongside heartfelt and inspiring notes that act as a pep talk to her kids halfway through the day.

Ardita, from Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland, said: “It’s really satisfying to see how much my children love these lunches, especially the Halloween ones.”

And since social media brings out the worst in people, the mum has received a number of cruel comments online, accusing her of pretending to be the ‘perfect mum’ after showing off the deliciously fun meals. She’s been ignoring the haters though, as she should. Keep up the great work!

How to make your own plant/seed-starter pots from newspaper

Making your own plant pots is both inexpensive and environmentally sustainable. 

Materials:

  • Newspaper: Newspapers with black or color ink are biodegradable and are considered safe for plants. Avoid glossy and shiny papers as they may not be safe for your garden.
  • Cylindrical object, such as a bottle or can

After the seedlings sprout, transfer the biodegradable seed-starter to your garden and let nature take care of the rest!

Fun challenge: The foot-hand test

Can you do this?

Here’s the explanation from WonderHowTo:

It took quite a bit of digging to trace this trick back to Professor [Hermann] Haken and the science of Synergetics. This science deals with the ways that complex systems work. In a complex system such as your brain and nervous system, there are many different signals moving back and forth. Some of these signals are treated with more importance than others. Some of the signals also become coupled, with one signal guiding the other. That is what is happening with your foot and hand. Your hand movement couples with your foot movement, but your hand movement is treated with more importance, so your foot changes direction.

Even more interesting is that you don’t actually have to move your hand. Try the experiment again, but this time just think about drawing the number 6 in the air. Your foot will still reverse. The pattern of your thoughts still couples with the movement of your foot.

The astonishing Savitsky cats prove that cats can be trained!

The saying, “Like herding cats,” refers to a commonly-held belief that cats cannot be trained or disciplined.

But the amazing Savitsky cats show that trope to be false: Cats can be trained!

The Savitsky Cats is a family from the Ukraine that consists of mother Svitlana, daughter Marina, son Misha and their 10 very talented cats: Ulia, Chupa, Topa, Asia, Dasha, Matros, Eddy, Linda, Tosha and Mafik. Svitlana began training her first cat when she was 10 years old.

Sadly, the Savistsky cats were eliminated in the competition’s Quarterfinals. 🙁
