Biden promotes abortion up to birth in SOTU

LifeNews.com reports, March 7, 2024 [red color emphasis supplied]:

During his State of the Union address today, Joe Biden promised he would sign legislation to kill babies in abortions up to birth if Democrats win complete control of Congress this November.

“In its decision to overturn Roe v. Wade the Supreme Court majority wrote ‘Women are not without electoral or political power.’ No kidding. Clearly those bragging about overturning Roe v. Wade have no clue about the power of women in America,” Biden said.

“But they found out when reproductive freedom was on the ballot and won in 2022, 2023, and they will find out again in 2024. If Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose I promise you: I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again,” Biden said.

Over 65.5 million babies have been killed in abortions since the Supreme Court handed down that infamous decision in 1973. However, apparently, that’s not enough abortions for Biden, so he announced plans yesterday to expand both surgical and chemical abortions at a time when states already allow abortions up to birth.

Biden is going to continue his desperate attempt to exploit a federal law, the that guarantees “emergency medical treatment,” and twist it to try to force emergency rooms across the country to do abortions. Never mind that federal courts have already rebuked his attempt to turn ER doctors into abortionists.

Biden claimed during the speech that pro-life states deny pregnant women legitimate health care or lifesaving medical treatment.

This of course is totally false, as every single pro-life law in America fully allows pregnant women to get medical care — including for ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages.

Ingrid Skop, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., a board-certified OB-GYN who serves as vice president and director of medical affairs at Charlotte Lozier Institute, told LifeNews earlier this year that no pro-life laws preent pregnant women from accessing medical care.

“The overwhelming majority of OB-GYNs recognize both mother and baby as our patients and so does federal law,” she said….

Biden’s views are not shared by most Americans. A new national poll conducted by Marist University finds that two-thirds of Americans support pro-life laws that place limits on abortions.

The 2024 Knights of Columbus-Marist Poll results reveal that 66% of Americans support placing legal limits on abortion, and that nearly 6 in 10 support limiting abortions to the first three months of pregnancy.

This survey, conducted by the Marist Poll also found that 83% of Americans support pregnancy resource centers, which offer support to mothers both during their pregnancy and after their baby is born.

Additionally, the poll found that two-thirds of Americans believe healthcare professionals with religious objections to abortions should not be legally required to perform them, while 86% of respondents believe that laws can protect both the mother and her unborn child.

Alabama Supreme Court: Embryos are children

This is really significant, and has already sent the Left into apoplexy.

The Hill reports, Feb. 19, 2024 [red color emphasis supplied]:

Alabama’s Supreme Court has ruled that frozen embryos are children under state law and subject to legislation dealing with the wrongful death of a minor, stating that it “applies to all unborn children, regardless of their location.”

The court issued this majority decision in a lawsuit brought forth by a group of in vitro fertilization (IVF) patients whose frozen embryos were destroyed in December 2020 when a patient removed the embryos from a cryogenic storage unit and dropped them on the ground.

The plaintiffs subsequently filed two lawsuits against the facility, the Center for Reproductive Medicine, alleging that the clinic had violated Alabama’s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act, which applies to unborn children….

The defendant’s motion to dismiss the lawsuits were granted by a trial court that found a frozen embryo did not fall within the “definition of a ‘person’ or ‘child.’” ….

“The relevant statutory text is clear: the Wrongful Death of a Minor Act applies on its face to all unborn children, without limitation,” the court’s decision stated.

The court found that there is no unwritten exception, as the defendants have argued, to the law that applies to “unborn children who are not physically located ‘in utero’ — that is, inside a biological uterus — at the time they are killed.”

The defendants had also argued that considering frozen embryos as children would result in numerous consequences, including making IVF substantially more expensive and preserving embryos more “onerous.” ….

The ruling was issued by Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell, with seven of the other eight justices concurring. Alabama Supreme Court Justice Greg Cook issued a dissenting opinion.

Cook argued in his opinion that it was not within the role of the court to “expand the reach of a statute and ‘breathe life’ into it by updating or amending it.” He argued the law that was written in 1872 would not have taken into account the status of frozen embryos and to argue that the law does would require an explicit amendment from the state Legislature.

Nearly 3 weeks later, the Iowa State House passed a fetal personhood bill, H.B. 2575, which increases the penalty for the nonconsensual ending of a pregnancy, making it a felony and increasing jail time.

Opponents are taking issue because the bill changes the current language from “terminating a human pregnancy” to the “death of or serious injury to an unborn person.” They argue it is another attack on abortion since Roe v. Wade was struck down.

According to the bill, an unborn person is considered “an individual organism the species homo sapiens from fertilization to live birth.”

Under Iowa law, a class A felony is punishable by up to a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole. A person who causes the death of an unborn person “without the consent of the pregnant person” would be guilty of a class A felony.

Baby born with spina bifida survives in-womb surgery & goes on to walk & run

This is very good news for the advancement and treatment of birth defects in the womb. Many women whose babies are diagnosed with spina bifida before birth will go on to have an abortion.

Piper-Kohl Kelly is living proof that modern technology can save children.

Piper-Kohl Kelly happy & healthy at five years old/SWNS photo

From The Irish Sun:

A girl whose parents were told she may never walk is now running around — after surgery in the womb. Mum Georgia Axford and dad Tyler Kelly discovered at the 20-week scan their unborn baby had spina bifida, which can paralyse the legs.

They got a £9,000 loan and travelled to Germany for an op where a collagen patch helps repair the spine.

Piper-Kohl Kelly, named after surgeon Dr Thomas Kohl, was then born early (in 2018) but healthy, and a fundraiser helped pay back the loan.

Now aged five, she can walk and run and has taken part in school sports day.

Georgia, 24, from Yate, South Gloucs, said: “Seeing her run on the tracks was amazing. I never thought she’d be able to do something like that. Sometimes it doesn’t feel real. I think back to what we were told, and they were really negative about Piper’s diagnosis. We were prepared to give Piper whatever support she needed. I can’t believe it – we’re so lucky to see Piper achieve what she does.”

Such a happy ending!

The Abort Democrats Caption Contest

This is our  world-famous 276th Caption Contest!

Here’s the pic:

About the pic: At least two Democrat lawmakers wore “ABORTION” pins to display their support for killing unborn babies during Joe Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address. Sen. Ed Markey (D-Massachusetts) and Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pennsylvania) posted photos of themselves on social media wearing golden lapel pins that read “ABORTION” with a stylized O with a heart inside. Dean wrote on Twitter: “I say the word, I wear the word. Abortion care is health care. Abortion care saves lives.” Markey said the pins were a gift from Planned Parenthood. The abortion chain spends massive amounts of money to elect pro-abortion Democrats every year while reporting billion-dollar revenues and aborting more than 383,000 unborn babies annually. A glimpse of hope for this country!

Had enough of the culture war brewing across America? Sick of “Pride” month yet? Here’s some good news: Gallup Poll released poll results today that showed more Americans want all or most abortions made illegal. From their poll (via LifeNews):

“Although support for abortion increased after the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the new Gallup survey released today shows that support is already softening one year after the decision. Now, a minority of Americans want all or most abortions legal while more Americans want all or most abortions made illegal.

Though the Gallup poll may appear to indicate that Americans support abortion – with questions about abortion in general showing Americans support abortions in the first trimester — a further Gallup question that more specifically identifies people’s views on abortions reveals what has been true for decades – Americans oppose most or all abortions.

That’s because a generic poll shows support for abortion in the first trimester but when pollsters ask the times when abortion should be legal, a strong percentage of people say abortions should generally only be allowed to save the mother’s life or in cases of rape or incest. Since those rare reasons constitute approximately 2% of all abortions, Americans oppose 98% of abortions.

Looking at the brand new Gallup poll released today, 69% say abortion should generally be legal in the first three months of pregnancy. But ending the analysis of the poll with that figure is highly misleading.

That’s because the subsequent question that more accurately identifies abortion views makes it clear more Americans oppose most or all abortions.

As Gallup notes, “Specifically, close to half of Americans, 47%, now say abortion should be legal in all (34%) or most (13%) circumstances, while a similar proportion, 49%, want it legal in only a few (36%) or illegal in all (13%) circumstances.”

That means 49 percent of Americans take a pro-life position opposing all or most abortions while a lower 47% take a pro-abortion position supporting all or most abortions.

Excellent news!

How Berkeley voters outdo communist countries

In my course on Comparative Politics, I used to mock the supposedly competitive democratic elections in totalitarian regimes like the Soviet Union and the People’s Republic of China by asking my students how it is possible that their ruling Communist Party could receive a near-unanimity of votes. Of course, that scenario take place in those countries because their elections are not really competitive, despite their window-dressing of other political parties. Instead, the system is rigged so that the Communist Party has a monopoly on power, and the other parties stand no chance of being elected.

Little could I have anticipated that this would happen in the United States, without coercion or a rigged electoral system, but with the voluntary consent of voters.

Did you know that in the midterm elections last Fall, a near unanimity of voters (95%) in the People’s Republic of Berkeley, California, voted to return Gavin Newsom as Governor?

From Berkeleyside, Dec. 23, 2022:

In Berkeley, Newsom got 95% of vote over his Republican challenger

Gov. Gavin Newsom, having survived a recall election last year, defeated his Republican opponent Brian Dahle 59% to 41%. In Berkeley, Newsom won with a landslide 95% of the vote, compared with the 79% he received in Alameda County.

95% voted in lockstep, in a city replete with intellectuals and a world-class university. So much for critical thinking and higher education.

Even more Berkeley voters (96%) voted for Proposition 1: The Right to Abortion, i.e., the “right” to kill unborn and entirely innocent human beings. Note how the Left no longer bother with using the euphemism of “pro choice,” but now outright call their advocacy pro abort.

And that’s why I call Berkeley the Belly of the Beast.

The Left look to Satanists to save abortion in Texas

If this doesn’t tell you the Left are evil, nothing will.

Last Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, nearly 24 hours after a Texas law that bans nearly all abortions in the state went into effect, the Supreme Court rejected a request to block enforcement of the law, which abortion providers claim will bar at least 85% of abortions in the state and will likely cause many clinics to close, while a challenge to its constitutionality is litigated in the lower courts. The SCOTUS vote was 5-4, with fake-conservative Chief Justice John Roberts joining the court’s three liberal justices (Breyer, Sotomayor and Kagan) in dissent. (SCOTUSblog)

From Breitbart, Sept. 6, 2021:

After The Satanic Temple announced its opposition to the Texas anti-abortion law, leftists have embraced the cult as a potentially helpful ally in the cause to keep abortion legal.

At Salon.com, Brett Bachman argued Satanists “may be the last, best hope to save abortion rights in Texas”….

Other left-wing outlets were as equally gleeful in their support of The Satanic Temple’s fight to keep abortion legal. “Satanic Temple Floats Devilishly Clever Strategy To Dodge Texas Abortion Law,” stated a headline from HuffPost. “Why Satanists may be the last hope to take down Texas’s abortion bill,” echoed Fortune.

In 2020, following the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a woman wrote an op-ed in HuffPost exclaiming that she joined The Satanic Temple, believing that they are the best force in America to keep abortion rights alive….

Sickening!
